Sedums can be wind, frost, insect,
salt and drought tolerant. This fantastically versatile group of
plants are one of the easiest perennials to grow. They are great
additions to borders, pots, troughs, rockeries, between paving, as
groundcover and of course to make a green roof (see guide on
How to Build a Green Roof).
Sedum foliage can be very attractive
all year round, but their flowers can be equally rewarding. Leaf
colour varies from burgundy bronze to yellow, grey and deep green.
Flower colour varies from burgundy to pink, yellow to white. The
flowers are very attractive to butterflies.
For larger numbers of sedums (such
as for a living roof) please contact us.
We can also supply sedum plugs (minimum order for sedum plugs is 100). |
Grasses are very popular for
screening. Not only can they distract you from parts of the house and garden you
would rather not see all the
time, but they can also be used to create a bit of mystery if they are planted
off the border, growing into the open space. They provide colour,
interest, movement and soothing sounds whilst also making you wonder
what's at the bottom of the garden.
Here we have chosen two forms of
calamagrostis, which although not evergreen look great even in winter
and once cut down start growing much more quickly than other tall
grasses such as miscanthus. We have combined them with Anemanthele
lessoniana - the tallest evergreen grass at 1m to give colour all
year round, the seedheads of which are a particular feast for finches
through winter. All
plants will be in 10.5cm pots and ready for immediate planting. |
Also
known as 'houseleeks', 'hens and chicks' and 'liveforever', this
colourful collection of our favourite cultivars are perfect for a
dry, sunny spot. Planting a few of each variety together creates a
striking impact of colourful foliage lasting all year round.
Sempervivums are among the most frost-resistant succulents, making them popular
especially for low maintenance, drought tolerant gardening. Their thick
succulent leaves store water for when it is needed and as their name suggests (liveforever)
it is a perennial plant that keeps its leaves in winter and is very resistant to
difficult conditions of growth.
Perfect for pots, troughs, roof gardens and any little pocket between rocks,
paving stones and garden edges. All
plants will be in 9cm pots and ready for immediate planting. |
