PLANTING ALPINES IN SEPTEMBER
Every late summer / early autumn we are regularly asked if it's still ok to plant alpines. On the whole, yes! For many parts of the UK it is an ideal time to rejuvenate rockeries and raised beds; a perfect opportunity to become creative with pots, troughs, an old sink or any other upcycled container.
While some alpines, for example those displayed in alpine houses, would not appreciate exposure to the forthcoming winter without protection, any supplied by us during the forthcoming weeks are suitable for growing outside and are hardy favourites.
With cooler temperatures, but soil that is still warm from summer, top growth is reduced and plants can concentrate their energy on root development. As spring emerges, so will fresh, vigorous growth and a rewarding floral display.
All our special offers contain hardy perennial alpines, suitable for planting outside in well drained soil. Any questions or for personal advice please do contact us.
