Clay soil can easily be improved to give better
aeration to the plants by adding organic matter and coarse sand which will also
help to reduce the fertility of the soil. However, some grasses will be fine in
clay soil.
Look out for:
Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerster'
Deschampsia caespitosa
Elymus hispidus
Phalaris arundinacea (best in large gardens)
